The "doer" is God

I'm reminded about what Jesus said in John 5:19, “The Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing."  When we look at this verse carefully, we see that Jesus never really acted without His Father. He never entertained the thought of what He was supposed to do on His own, but His every word uttered made reference to the Father. We see that when He said: (John 10:30, "I and the Father are one."), or when He said "I came not to do My will, but the will of My Father in Heaven". And His whole ministry throughout its three year span was focussed on demonstrating to the people of His time that they were actually confessing that they've missed the entire message of the Law. He wanted them to see, that it was never about doing things for the Father , or in the name of the Father. But doing only that which they saw the Father do. And the only reason they failed in this, was due to the fact that they looked at some external source as a mentor, and not the Father who has always been the actual Source! 

The only reason they could not fathom what Jesus demonstrated in the flesh, was solely due to the fact that that they were viewing all things through a dualistic perspective and also interpreted all things through a dualistic language, that's why they could not even begin to realize that Jesus was not really the "Doer", but rather, His whole ministry pointed to the One and Ultimate doer, the Source of all Life that was and is within Him. When they would've seen the Father as the "doer", they'd not waste their time imitating the world. Centuries earlier, back in the days of the Prophet Samuel, the people of Israel made that mistake when they desired a king for themselves, instead of realizing that God was their king. Truth is, God already did the work of a king, there was no need for Israel to request one for themselves. Much earlier, we also see something similar in the time of Moses. When God told Moses to speak to the rock, but instead of doing what he heard the Father said to do, he went and hit the rock. Truth is, God already did the work in the rock, Israel just could not see. And there are many more examples similar to these in the Bible, but it seems humanity's problem was rejecting God's way for doing things and choosing to do things their own way. Much of humanity makes the same mistakes today, just as the people of the Bible. The problem with humanity these days is this: we read verses like Galatians 2:20 which reads:  "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me."  But instead of realizing this within ourselves, we still waste countless hours trying to invite Christ into our hearts, when He's already within us. Sadly, most of us continue to view ourselves as a separate entity (believing ourselves 'born again') praying to a separate God. When in reality, we can never be separated from a Father who has implanted His very Word in us! It's not about us "doing" the work, or any work for that matter. But realizing that it was and will always be the Spirit of God that is living and acting through us, the minute we let go of the illusion to "do". We have to arrive at a realization that there is no separate "WE or "I" trying to do anything because the "doer" is God. And this work of His, has been made perfect in righteousness. This work of His is complete within us. We do not even have to lift a finger -- only to rest and enjoy this "Finished Work" called "eternal life".
